Rutland & Lincolnshire

Oakham…   Read all about it!

For Rutland, one of the smallest counties in England, I’ll be in Oakham…

As far as food goes, I think we’ve established I’m pretty blissfully ignorant as to what my own coutry is producing… good job I’m doing this tour and that you’re following.

Rutland Village Farm shop
Grange FarmShop
Ashley Herb Farm
Fan Court Farm Shop
Northfield Farm
Hambleton Bakery
Wing Hall Farm Shop
Greenacres Farm Shop
Brockleby’s (supported by DEFRA).

The Rutland Card.

I’ve already written a few things on the Lincolnshire page about:
Sausages?… well, that’s the first thing that springs to my mind, but what’s it really got to offer?

The tourist board for Lincolnshire have a picture of sausages sizzling on their front page, but they’re also mentioning an ostrich farm, a special Lincolnsire Plum Bread (recipe courtesy of a couple of different kind of bikers) and something about Lincolnshire Poacher Cheese… Sounds like some pretty special local foods! There’s also the Lincolnshire Food and Farming Network which seems to look into, excuse the pun, more of the grass roots of the issues of local food.
