“Convivial Greetings from SF Worcestershire
At last night’s SF W Committee meeting we started to plan an event to celebrate your visit and give you an opportunity to meet our members on the 25th June for a “Bring and Share” meal at “Top Barn Farm – Special Needs Training Centre” (http://www.topbarn.co.uk/htm/specneeds.htm ). This was where Slow Food Worcestershire was officially launched in October 2007.
Many of our own members have never been there despite the fact that in 2008 we had a couple of events there.
I am enclosing the photo that we used for the cover of our membership brochure. It is of Asparagus because you may know that this is one of the iconic crops of the county. The centre of the industry is the Vale of Evesham and from the late 19th century to the middle of the 20th century there would be a daily train from the Vale
to the London markets and restaurants. Unfortunately you will have just missed the British Asparagus Festival which this year will be held from 23 April to 21 June but there will still be some around whilst you are here. (http://www.britishasparagusfestival.org/ )
I will have to find you some of our Worcestershire organic soft cheeses for your visit and some of our Presidium perry!”
The words of Don Barton, the Worcestershire Slow Food Leader
